  • Stalk: The stem of a corn plant is called a “stalk”, and the term “corn stalk” may be well-known enough that the work “stalk” (in a non-stem sense) may qualify as a corn pun in the right context.
  • Field: The term “corn field” may be well-known enough that the term “field” alone (in a non-farming sense) may qualify as a corn pun in the right context: “It came out of left field” and “They had a field day” and “It’s a level playing field” and “She fielded the journalists’ questions adeptly”.
  • Filled → Field: As in “I have field my pun quota for today.” and “She field me in on the details”.

  • *perp* → *pop*: If a word contains the “perp” sound (or similar), we can create a terrible popcorn pun: popendicular, popetrated, popetuity, popetuate, popetually, poplexed, poplexity, poplexed.
  • Creamed: As a creamed corn pun you might just be able to use the word “creamed” as in “We got creamed in our final match.”
  • Flake: As a corn flakes pun you might be able to just mention the word “flake” or “flakes” as in “He flakes so often it’s not worth asking him to come.” and “He so unreliable – total flake.” and “She’s a bit flaky.”
  • Crop: As in “Cream of the crop” and “Some new problems cropped up last minute”
  • Crap → Crop: As in “What a load of crop!”” and “He’s full of crop” and “I’ll beat the crop out of you!” and “Cut the crop!” and “Piece of crop” and “Oh crop“.
  • Shucks: The term “shuck” can refer to the husk (outer covering) of corn/maize or to the act of removing it. Example pun: “Aww shucks“.
